City of Hartford – 457 Deferred Contribution Plan
The City of Hartford offers a 457 deferred contribution retirement plan to its employees as a benefit to help them save and invest for retirement. The 457 deferred contribution plan is a voluntary savings plan, with no employer match, and is administered through Voya.
Participants decide how much to invest and contributions are deducted from their paycheck automatically each pay period. The City of Hartford Treasurer`s Office, in conjunction with Voya, provides a broad array of investment options, so that participants can diversify their investments. Contributions are made on a pre-tax basis, so participants may save on income taxes. You can also contribute from your pay on an after-tax basis to secure potential future savings opportunities when you withdraw your account balance. It's up to you!
Voya has assigned a team of educational specialists who are dedicated to the City of Hartford. They will conduct regular meetings at the firehouses, police academy, city hall and wherever employees are located. The will also provide personal consulting needed to help employees get started with an investment plan.
