City Treasurer’s Message
My office is in the process of creating a Summer Youth Internship Program (SYIP) with our financial and banking partners.
I believe that it would be beneficial to have a SYIP, because it enables Hartford’s youth to participate in an opportunity to learn about the financial services sector. The students will learn about corporate governance, finance and business administration while gaining experience that will help them to develop skills and work within a professional setting.
As we prepare to launch the SYIP, we will continue to partner with Capital Community College and Center for Latino Progress in accepting their students and providing them with an internship opportunity.
It’s imperative that we all give back to the community and help our high school students learn what the “working world”is like and for them to become productive citizens. If anyone is interested in volunteering and helping with this great initiative, please don’t hesitate to call Assistant City Treasurer Carmen Sierra at (860) 757-9107.
